About me

For nearly 30 years​,​ I have led teams in the Medical devices industry in a variety of Operations Management roles. This included managing cross functional teams of up to 150 people consisting of operators​,​ supervisors & engineers. My role was to build the engagement of the teams so as to improve our service​,​ quality and finance metrics. This involved coaching my support teams as well as getting out onto the shop floor daily to hear the ideas the teams had to improve engagement and hence our performance. This role also involved managing poor performers and in some cases helping them to find roles outside of the company. I found this position to be a hugely satisfying one & I still enjoy meeting the team and seeing them gaining promotion into more senior roles in the company.

Key Projects

Customer Service Improvement
Our business unit had a service level (as measured by % orders filled on time) of 75% and the goal was to reach 100%. This program involved identifying all of the causes of why product was unavailable (capacity constraints, bottlenecks, quality issues etc.) and systematically putting fixes in place to fix them. A key element of the plan involved engaging with all of the operations team on the shop floor and support areas to obtain their improvement ideas. These included items like retraining, shift structure changes, downtime reduction, quality improvement etc. After 15 months, we succeeded in achieving the 100% goal and for that the team & I were awarded an internal company customer service award (which was competed for by over 30 different sites worldwide).
