Step 1: Joining Career Navig8r<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first step to becoming a Mentor is signing up to Career Navig8r. Quick and easy, all you\u2019ll need to do is set up a free account, give us some information about your employment history and the job you\u2019ll be mentoring, and set up your profile. How you choose to present yourself, what you put in your bio, and what rates you ultimately choose to set are entirely up to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Career Navig8r, we firmly believe that our Mentors<\/a> know best. Our role is to ensure that the platform gives them a place to present themselves to the people who need them the most. We might run the shopfront, but the keys are in your hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Working With Mentees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once you\u2019ve got your account together, it\u2019s time to start working with Mentees. As you receive inquiries from Mentees, it\u2019s important to remember that you get to choose who you work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, you may get an inquiry from someone who\u2019s just started their first job in a role you have extensive experience of. They\u2019re probably a great match who could really use your help and advise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other end of the scale, you\u2019ll have some inquiries from people with little to no experience at all. Some of them will be hard working and dedicated to building a meaningful career for themselves. Others may be naive or may underestimate the task ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where the all-important first meeting<\/a> comes in. First meetings are a chance for both parties to ask questions. You\u2019ll get to find out what their expectations are and whether or not you\u2019re a good fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, your Mentee can decide whether they\u2019d like to schedule another meeting. Again, it\u2019s important to remember that this is as much a chance for you to decide as it is for them. Is this Mentee<\/a> a person you think you\u2019d have success with? Does their mindset and approach fit yours?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mentor\/Mentee relationships are often long-term so don\u2019t be afraid to be a little picky up front. It could pay off well in the long-run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Developing Your Mentees\u2019 Skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A common problem when it comes to part time work for retirees is that the work is unfulfilling. Nobody should have to spend their retirement doing work they don\u2019t enjoy, especially not when there are people queueing up to learn from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working with your Mentee, you\u2019ll be able to guide them directly, showing them exactly what they need to know while cutting through the noise that will likely be surrounding them. After all, for people starting their career it can often be very hard to decipher the good advice from the bad. For those with years of experience under their belts, however, it\u2019s a different story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5: Earn Money While You Teach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last but certainly not least, it\u2019s worth mentioning that mentoring is some of the most lucrative part time work for retirees you\u2019ll find. After all, there are plenty of people who are willing to pay good money when they know that it\u2019s a strong investment in their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
